Welcome to my table. Have a quick seat and check in on our past month. It was a grand to my finish on the 4th floor. I will send a 50th birthday bash update all on its own, but this is what we've been up to here in Gulu.
I start every month with a day of month end reports and financial accountability. Emma and I were working through the small tuktuk (tricycle) business receipts. Every month we see God's faithfulness being poured out in our lives. What an amazing God we serve!
These little ruffians keep our home lively.
Ladies - Zoro and Tutu
And our baby boy - Bandit
Moses named him after my childhood pet raccoon.
We got dressed up to be a part of beautiful wedding for a young lady that attends University Community Church. It's a joy to celebrate with others.
Moses prayed for Pastor Jimmy, who was leading the short, sweet service.
Acholi dancers graced the reception.
The energy is electrifying!
I wish I could shake my hips the way these ladies do.
Fun times with friends.
The kids start coming even two hours on a Saturday morning, hoping that we will have class. I try to run a class every other Saturday if possible. A time to share the Word, play games, laugh, sing, colour, and learn stories of God's HOPE for us.
Occasionally my voice is weak, or the coughing is too much, so I use videos to help teach the stories. I also want to get more organized with fun songs for kids - with choreography.
Jacob wrestled with God in prayer. And my prayer is to see these children come to know Jesus and to experience transformation in their/our neighbourhood.
The after church photo shot - the "green" team.
God's glory in the compound.
The Golden Girls.
Celebrating Pastor Jimmy's birthday.
Father's Day
Isaac, a man with a huge heart, and an even bigger smile. He helped count down the days until my 50th birthday clocked in on June 27th.
Emma and Okello are always helping around the house. We love having them as neighbours, friends, and partners.
Avocado grows so big and delicious here. We have eaten so many lately.
It took two years to pull this training together.
There were 31 teachers from various Pentecostal churches. They came together to learn more about the Biblical basis for children's ministry. As a team, we looked into 9 multiple intelligences and got out the costumes for creative dramas. OneHope once again partnered with this training and sent materials for every teacher to have guides and almost 2000 children to have materials to remember the stories of hope they will be taught.
The first day had fewer numbers because of a massive rain storm, but the tent got fuller as time went on over the two days.
Here are some pieces that speak to the Seed falling on Good Soil.
Inspirational
Learning that all the stories of the Bible actually lead to one big story - God's big story of HOPE and salvation for His children, through Christ.
Lesson planning
Acting out stories
An angel dressed was turned into a fisherman's net. Love it!
Pray that these teachers will all go back to their churches and raise up the little ones in the ways of the Lord, feeling more confident because they have well-laid our curriculum to help guide them.
I even received a huge hen, liquid soap, bananas and plantains as a thank you gift.
A trip to the post office put a smile on my face!!
We finished off the month with another birthday celebration.
Oh, I love this family of God.
And I praise God for the kids in my neighbourhood.
Thanks for getting to the end. Honestly, you are all invited to come have a real cup of tea at our dining room table. The house is open for you!
