An Ounce of October

Nothing is morning exciting for me than going to the post office and finding a real letter. We were super blessed to receive this card from the Sunday school kids at the Junction.
Module 2 of the TLT (Timothy Leadership Training) in Pader took place Oct. 12-16. Emmanuel International does an amazing job at bringing together church leaders from all over Pader district. They organize the food, accommodation, printing of the manuals, and more. We have the great privilege of just showing up to train. This module was on Stewardship and we are praying for much fruit over their action plans in the next three months.
Butterfly beds. Hihi... the nets make each mattress look like it's cocooned in blue and white wings. I had a good chuckle when one pastor started yawning after lunch. He just got up off his chair and went to lie down on his mattress and slept.
On the last day of the training, pastors need to write an Action Plan that will take them 3 months to work out. Throughout module two, these leaders testified to how their first module action plans either succeeded or struggled. God's people were definitely cared for in deeper ways since we were last together.
On a side note, church leaders were being taught about X and Y chromosomes because men sometimes leave their wives if they only produce one gender. The women get abused or neglected, and yet it's the man's DNA that determines the gender. Pastor Richard is also a medical doctor, so a few leaders want him to come and share in their churches.
Pastor Richard Okello, an Acholi speaker, and a graduate of our first cohort in Kitgum is helping us to facilitate these church leaders.
Most of the 4 day training was translated between Acholi and English.
Praying over their action plans, to be fulfilled in the next three months.
We look forward to at least 4 more modules with this group of shepherds.
Friday nights are often spent at church, building relationship and speaking into the lives of the Soul Sistaz and Men of Honor. Last week we dove deep into the topic of our circle of priorities. Where do we put God, friends and family, work, leisure, and more. Sadly, many of the university students recognized that they spend too much time scrolling through social media or watching movies.
The Soul Sistaz call me "Mummy K" and the other pastor's wife is Mama Phionah. It is our prayer that we can be God's salt and light as we minister to these precious princesses.
Moses trained alongside of Anthony Sytsma again. They didn't the second half of the Helping Without Hurting in Africa (HWHIA) training with a local NGO.
Great discussion, and thought provoking messages. HWHIA focuses on not having people become dependent upon help, but to thrive and be self-sustaining in life.
This handsome crew received their certificates of completion in HWHIA.
It's routine to take Sunday shots. Every week, church attendees show off how they shine!
Anniversary part 1 - we cherish 6 years in legal marriage. (Oct. 16).
On Nov. 16 we will celebrate our church wedding. It's kind of fun to celebrate twice.
The picture doesn't cut it, but fields of sunflowers make me smile!
Visitation Day with our daughter Becky. She was heading into her Senior Four exams. She finished her last paper yesterday and now we await the results.
Popping in to visit my energetic mother-in-law.
We travelled to Soroti to have meetings with Resonate Global Mission staff. They came from the Canadian and USA offices to check in on us and we were encouraged!
Just catching a moment to breathe in the midst of our busy schedule.
When I left home to go for the TLT training, rumor has it, Tutu waited for a few hours by the gate, hoping I would return with a backpack on my back. So faithful!
