Teen Talks - Servant Leadership

These teens just finished going through the whole book of John and will be moving on to The Purpose Driven Life. They are all a part of a sponsorship site where three of my good friends work and serve.  I was asked to come and lead in a motivational talk at the end of the day.
We briefly talked about what it means to be a servant... and nobody wants to be a house help or a maid. They are treated so unfairly. Everyone wanted to be a boss.  They can sit back and tell people what to do. Yikes.  So, we spoke about being servant leaders.  Using our position for the glory of God... and being people of integrity, vision, responsibility, self-discipline, initiative, etc.
I look forward to seeing how these teens will develop in their leadership skills and faith.
I'm glad that my "Juniors" invite me to be a part of such great blessings.
We finished the evening off strong - with a soda and a goat roast.

Teaching the Apostle's Creed

When I returned to Uganda in April, my friend Pius came over and explained that he had a heart for the pastors and church leaders in his village.  He really wanted them to grow in the grace and knowledge of God's Word.  Pius just graduated from Africa Bible University in Entebbe, and he is very reformed in his thinking.  It's exciting to see him grow since I first met him in 2009.
The school equipped him with some Bible / Church training materials, but he wanted help teaching this in the village and so I have volunteered to go through the manuals of material and train with him.
Yesterday we went to Kaberamaido for the first class.  We are beginning with a 5 week series on the Apostle's Creed.  It's so deep and a fantastic summary of what all Christians need to truly believe. I taught a brief summary of the history of the Apostle's Creed and why the early church leaders felt a need to summarize our faith.  And then together Pius and I shared the aspect of who Christ is.
It was a pleasure seeing Pius add his own information from his school notes and his heart passion as well.  The students are hungry for truth and added value.  They had no idea that the Creed is also for Protestants and so we had so much to learn together.
I am very comfortable teaching and thank God for these opportunities!!
On the way home we had to slowly pass through the market.  Always an adventure.
